Lake Tekapo

All the Airbnbs my mom found were great with gorgeous views but I think our house is Omarama was our favorite! The views finally had my dad asking about property here too!  Completely surrounded by snow capped mountains, a hot tub at the top of a hill where we had a view of the stars so clear we could see the Milky Way and a proper fireplace in a house full of character. The owners were equally as great as the property, with a lifetime of stories that have just fed my drive to continue my adventures! Our first journey from here was to Lake Tekapo. It was crazy! We stopped at another gorgeous lake I can't recall right now, but it was outlined by beautiful yellowing trees and then it seemed like we drove all of 20 minutes up the mountian and were just surrounded by snow! Unfortunately the historic church my mom wanted to see was closed for some reason and it was extremly cloudy so we couldn't see hardly any of the lake! It was still gorgeous though, and we stopped at an adorable café with a name that obviously caught my attention! And I apparently ordered the smallest drink on the menu haha

 January 25, 2025 I successfully drove today! It was not as bad as I had anticipated thankfully, and to get some driving practice in before attempting it in a manual car was helpful! I think it's more awkward watching the opposite driving from the outside then actually being the driver. There are many cute little cafes and delicious looking noodle places in town we look forward to trying! The best part of the day without a doubt was exploring The Public Gardens! The pictures will be able to speak for themselves but also don't quite do it justice.

Oamaru to Queenstown

I am back with great news! Right after I made my last post I got an email about a job! It was a position I had originally got turned down for but they had an injury on the team and reached out to check if I was still available! Sounds like they only need help for a month and maybe a couple extra weeks after but I will gladly take it! If it all goes well, they said they will reach out if they need any additional help while I am here. Next week I will start as a Vet Tech to assist a team for the teatsealing season so I will still get to work with cows too!! My wonderful mother found a program called Helpx, which is pretty much the same as WOOFing if you've ever heard me talk about that! For those of you that haven't, they are websites where you can connect with host people from all around the world! Day 1

San Fancisco 01/22/25  We have safely made it through the first couple flights and currently on our layover waiting to board the 14 hour flight to Christchurch New Zealand! At our first stop in Chicago we ate at the Billy Goat Pub and Grill (which we truly picked just because of the name of course)! I suppose they are known world wide and have their own hard seltzer called the Fizzy Goat! Everything was delicious and would for sure reccomend! This San Francisco airport is huge and we certainly made sure to get in plenty of steps! Ian and I were also extremely greatful for their outdoor terrace to finally get some fresh air! I am feeling a little nervous about entering New Zealand, which comes with the territory and I'm sure everything will be fine but there's still some worst case scenarios running through the back of my head, they do seem a tad bit more strict than the other countries I have visited. I do trust God has it all under control but obviously we will always welcome ...
