Oamaru to Queenstown
I am back with great news! Right after I made my last post I got an email about a job! It was a position I had originally got turned down for but they had an injury on the team and reached out to check if I was still available! Sounds like they only need help for a month and maybe a couple extra weeks after but I will gladly take it! If it all goes well, they said they will reach out if they need any additional help while I am here. Next week I will start as a Vet Tech to assist a team for the teatsealing season so I will still get to work with cows too!! My wonderful mother found a program called Helpx, which is pretty much the same as WOOFing if you've ever heard me talk about that! For those of you that haven't, they are websites where you can connect with host people from all around the world! Most commonly they will provide housing and food in some manner as an exchange for so many hours of work per day. Pretty much anything you can imagine it's there, families, couples, individuals, all types farming, gardening, I've seen small towns looking for help rebuilding, farms you can help with birthing baby animals, all sorts of stuff! We were able to connect with a lady and her son that own and run Rockvale Gardens just 15 minutes outside of Oamaru (a nice size garden to walk through, sit and relax or she has a little building where she hosts teas or small parties) She has plenty of landscaping she needs help with! Thankfully she was willing to negotiate things since I will have a job to go to, so Ian will stay plenty busy! We won our game this last weekend! I scored twice and just had a great time playing! I can't wait for our next game! My mom and brother are flying into Queenstown today and I couldn't be more excited!! Of course my mom has planned an awesome itinerary for us this week! The three hour drive from Oamaru to Queenstown was just stunning! I got the same feeling I did when I was out west....why do I live in Ohio. Not that I don't enjoy Ohio and all of our crazy seasons and all my family is there, but there are just places like Montana or here that are just like no other. Stunning scenery, mountains as far as you can see, sheep and cows, lakes and rivers so crystal clear and shades of blue that just don't seem real. Around every curve a new view just as beautiful as the last, a constant reminder that we have a Creator that just let loose and made this world so unique it literally leaves me speechless. I want to see it all! I have been blessed to have already been able to travel the world the way I have, thank you to everyone that has supported me and helped make these adventures possible! Of course a huge thank you to my parents for showing me the beauty of the world since the very beginning and giving constant support and encouragement to explore! As much as I am enjoying my time here, I also lookforward to what ever adventure will come next! Oh also I'm not sure if you will be able to tell in the pictures but the rocks are actually a light shade of blue, I just thought they looked neat! Hopefully the link below works, it should take you to a short series of clips from our last game. I am #15, and I've never felt like I've looked so cool in my life hahaha
