First Game of the Season
Our first game was rough to say in the least. Zingari beat us 85-12. It was Zingari's first premier game and they came ready to go! They were a solid team and extremely sportsman like, the league will be happy to have them! I was slightly disappointed with how I played, I missed a couple very important tackles in the first half, but I without a doubt made up for it in the second half. I was also one of the two that scored! Karsyn (an American import who has been a huge asset to the team) heard me calling for the ball, we both saw the opening on the weak side and hit it for the try, it was beautiful! I did get a little bump on the head and colorful tiny little black eye! I was awarded player of the match and got a gift card to the Waitaki Hotel (includes restaurant/little bar) which is one of our biggest sponsors. Ian and I wasted no time heading there on Sunday for some delicious food that was recommended to us! On our beautiful drive into the Waitaki Valley we also stopped to see some original Maori rock art! Saturday evening we also moved into a cute little flat which is where we will be staying for the rest of our time here! I am finally feeling settled and more like at home. This place is even better then the last simply because of the great visitors we have been getting! Any time we are home we leave the back door open for the sun and fresh air, and have had two cat visitors! Norman came the first night just to dry off from the rain, he made himself right at home and then wandered off, we have only seen him one other time down the driveway. Our second visitor we named Monte but he seems to respond to anything and comes running almost any time I call out the door. He comes in and out and sometimes cuddles on the couch for hours! Although I love having the interactions with this kitty, it has made me miss my cats at home even more. **Side note - both cats are sweet, clean, and clearly taken care of with good homes!** Due to some very unfortunate events I am now also looking for a job too, so continued prayers there would be much appreciated! This week I got a package from home, and have gotten some continued support from the Akron team I played with at home, both have warmed my heart greatly, along with all the others that have been showing support from home! I also finally saw raspberries in the grocery store (and of course sprung for) and wow did they hit the spot and tasted like home! I miss y'all and hope all is going well! *Note I have been attempting my own French braids, which finally just became slightly game worthy and it almost lasted till half time! Can only get better from here right hahaha
Way to finish strong and good job working on the braids. ππ½ Praying for good work - I know you’re a good worker and anyone would be blessed to have you! πAunt Caryn
ReplyDeleteThank you! Even my tight pony tails have been coming out haha I guess it just comes with the territory! I was watching a women's pro game on youtube and got some other hair ideas I might give a try!
DeleteOh fun. Praying for your work situation today. πππππ½
DeleteSo glad you are in a comfortable spot now. Sorry to hear about the job. You will find a new one soon. I am sure it was a tough first loss but glad they can already see your value to the team (I am sure other teams will see it to.... never know who may come knocking) Take care of that eye... and rest of body. Enjoy your fur friends and see you in your next post!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that! I have made some cool connections with people from other countries and this team has some players coming back to play in the next couple weeks from higher level teams/other countries so the doors are there I think!
DeleteNot sure how else to contact you so... just wanted to wish you a Happy Easter... (yesterday or tomorrow?). Think of you often and hope the job searches have panned out for you and Ian. Have a pic of the new flat? How are games going? Liking the new position more? I am sure you are looking forward to your mom coming. She will be giving you a huge hug from meπ looking forward to your next post. Love youπ₯°
ReplyDeleteCongrats on scoring during most games, supporting in all the rucks, and making tough tackles! Now you have to recover and let your knee and ribs heal so you can continue ue to be an asset to your teammates! Congrats on winning a second man on the match award!! Love you! Miss you!
