Getting Started Day 1

Last night we got to the house we will be at for atleast the next month. Finally everything is unpacked, meal prep done, laundry going, and slept from 10:30pm to 11:45am the next day which is the latest I've ever slept in in my entire life! Driving the manual car is going better than I expected too (thankfully), so from now on I will be able to do all the transportation we need! Tonight I had my first practice, we played some varieties of touch games (just easy no contact srimmaging) and then had a BBQ after! The coach seems great and the girls were super friendly as well! The team seems to look forward to the well needed conditioning that we will get in this upcoming month. We have anyone from moms and brand new players to well experienced players that have already traveled to other countries to play at higher levels. I believe I am one of four imports, one other is also from the US and two from some other country I don't remember. I am the first one here though so I lookforwad to meeting and playing along side of them! It's their summer time here now and the weather has been perfect in almost every way and I love it! The coldest it gets here in "winter" is about 40 degrees, they get rain instead of snow and sometimes they get a light frost on the ground! Obviously towards the mountains and higher elevations they get some snow, but not where we are at! Miss y'all!! Tomorrow we start our job at the dairy farm and just wait till you see the view from there! The last picture is one view driving into Oamaru which is the town we are in. And yes that is the gorgeous ocean meeting with the equally gorgeous sky!

 January 25, 2025 I successfully drove today! It was not as bad as I had anticipated thankfully, and to get some driving practice in before attempting it in a manual car was helpful! I think it's more awkward watching the opposite driving from the outside then actually being the driver. There are many cute little cafes and delicious looking noodle places in town we look forward to trying! The best part of the day without a doubt was exploring The Public Gardens! The pictures will be able to speak for themselves but also don't quite do it justice.

Oamaru to Queenstown

I am back with great news! Right after I made my last post I got an email about a job! It was a position I had originally got turned down for but they had an injury on the team and reached out to check if I was still available! Sounds like they only need help for a month and maybe a couple extra weeks after but I will gladly take it! If it all goes well, they said they will reach out if they need any additional help while I am here. Next week I will start as a Vet Tech to assist a team for the teatsealing season so I will still get to work with cows too!! My wonderful mother found a program called Helpx, which is pretty much the same as WOOFing if you've ever heard me talk about that! For those of you that haven't, they are websites where you can connect with host people from all around the world! San Fancisco 01/22/25  We have safely made it through the first couple flights and currently on our layover waiting to board the 14 hour flight to Christchurch New Zealand! At our first stop in Chicago we ate at the Billy Goat Pub and Grill (which we truly picked just because of the name of course)! I suppose they are known world wide and have their own hard seltzer called the Fizzy Goat! Everything was delicious and would for sure reccomend! This San Francisco airport is huge and we certainly made sure to get in plenty of steps! Ian and I were also extremely greatful for their outdoor terrace to finally get some fresh air! I am feeling a little nervous about entering New Zealand, which comes with the territory and I'm sure everything will be fine but there's still some worst case scenarios running through the back of my head, they do seem a tad bit more strict than the other countries I have visited.
